Overview
Hong Chi Morninghope School, Tuen Mun in Tuen Mun, one of the fourteen schools of the Hong Chi Association, is a government-subsidized school offering Primary 1 to Secondary 6 courses for children aged six to eighteen with mild intellectual disabilities. In addition to providing programs for children with intellectual disabilities, the school also offers support services for children with autism, speech therapy, occupational therapy, non-Chinese speaking support services, nursing services, social work counseling, and educational psychology counseling.
Educational Mission and Vision
Our school upholds the spirit of the Hong Chi Association to support those with intellectual disabilities and is committed to providing a caring and enjoyable learning environment for students with intellectual disabilities. We aim to nurture their strengths and potential, empower them to make their own decisions, and achieve balanced development in moral, intellectual, physical, social, and aesthetic aspects. We also nurture students’ lifelong learning abilities and cultivate the spirit of self-respect, self-reliance, self-confidence, self-discipline, self-learning, self-help, and mutual assistance, enabling them to integrate into society and serve the community.
We believe:
- People with intellectual disabilities should enjoy the same rights, freedoms and responsibilities as other members of society.
- People with intellectual disabilities should be given opportunities to develop their potential in the moral, intellectual, physical, social, emotional and spiritual areas.
- To encourage and assist persons with intellectual disabilities to fully integrate into family and community life.

The school has 16 classes: 8 in primary school and 8 in secondary school, totaling 240 students.
Educational goals
Our school focuses on holistic education, providing a high-quality learning environment and professional support services for students with mild intellectual disabilities. Through a curriculum that prioritizes the five key elements of moral, intellectual, physical, social, and aesthetic development, combined with interdisciplinary services such as autism counseling, speech therapy, and occupational therapy, we strive to fully develop students’ potential and cultivate their self-care and social adaptability. For students in Secondary 1 and above, we offer a specialized career planning program that strengthens employment skills training, equipping them for future study and employment, helping them gradually achieve independence and become active members of society.
Our school also prioritizes the professional growth of faculty and staff and the optimization of the campus environment. Through ongoing teacher development programs and greening initiatives, we strive to enhance teaching quality and create more favorable learning conditions. Regarding home-school collaboration, we actively promote parental involvement. Through parent-teacher associations, we strengthen communication, establish a support network, promote mutual assistance and exchange among parents, and foster the spirit of home-school cooperation.
In addition, our school also plays the role of social education, striving to enhance the public’s understanding and acceptance of people with intellectual disabilities, promote a culture of inclusion, and enable students to grow in a more inclusive environment and achieve a fulfilling life.
