Curriculum Objectives

  • To cultivate and train students’ listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills, thereby enhancing their language proficiency
  • To foster students’ understanding of Chinese culture, strengthen their sense of national identity, and strengthen their sense of belonging to the nation
  • To enrich students’ perspectives on life, build relationships with the community and the world, and develop their cognitive abilities
  • To enhance students’ ability to express their thoughts and feelings, as well as their ability to understand the feelings of others
  • To help students develop generic skills, such as critical thinking, creativity, communication, and independent learning

Course Highlights

1. Contextual Learning: Create learning environments to stimulate students’ learning motivation and curiosity; and allow them to learn and apply what they have learned outside the classroom in real-life situations.

2. Learning from reading: Make good use of picture books to increase students’ interest in reading, help them develop reading habits, and thus improve their language literacy

3. Drama teaching: Through theatre games and drama exercises, we can improve students’ participation in class. In interactive activities, we can help students immerse themselves in the characters and feel their inner world, thereby improving their self-confidence, expression skills and creativity.
