Course objectives

  • To develop creativity, imagination, critical thinking and aesthetic sense of students

  • To develop the skills of art creation and knowledge construction, and to cultivate cultural awareness and effective communication skills

  • To enable the experience of pleasure, enjoyment and satisfaction through participation of art creation activities

  • To cultivate the right attitude and ability to appraise art, and to understand more about art in context

  • To nurture lifelong interest in arts

Course features

1. Learn different visual arts knowledge through diverse teaching methods hence broaden students’ scope of artistic creation

Through cross-curricular activities, Visual Arts, Physical Education and Library courses use the picture book “Doing Yoga with Animals” as the main theme to allow students to have a full range of learning experiences.

Visual Arts and Music conduct cross-curricular learning experiences, using art elements (colors and lines) to express one’s feelings, playing music based on pictures, and displaying learning results in school.

Collaborate with the STEAM group to explore the application of electronic drawing, laser printers and visual arts, and create school-specific souvenirs to give to different people

2. Enhance students’ creativity and problem-solving skills, with an emphasis on fostering independent learning abilities

Through curriculum revision, students in Theme 4 will engage in integrated application of themes. Subject teachers will guide students in integrating the visual arts knowledge and skills learned in Themes 1-3 to create their own themes and media in Theme 4. This process allows students to explore different materials and identify the most suitable materials for their creations, fostering independent thinking and self-determination.

3. Cultivate students’ appreciation for art encountered in daily life and to nurture students’ artistic appreciation and literacy

Lead students to visit different exhibitions or conduct sketching activities to cultivate students’ eyes to appreciate beauty
